Souk-Daray Sithimolada

PRESIDENT OF MAFUBO CAMBODIA

"Painting is an art, and art as a whole is not an aimless creation that flows in a vacuum. It is a power whose aim must be to develop and improve the human soul " - Quotes from Wassily Kandinsky.

A Canadian citizen of Laotian descent, the daughter of a diplomat, Ms. Sithimolada was born in France and has lived in London, Washington D.C. and Laos. Since childhood, Souk-Daray learned to mix with people from different cultures, respecting his own cultural and traditional values, those of others and deeply aware of the role played by intercultural differences in people's behavior and perceptions. Member of the Board of Directors of the International Group for the Development of Children (RIEE) of the Lory project, Ms. Sithimolada demonstrates her willingness to share her passion for the development of children, in an education network in her adopted country , Canada, to help children solve or prevent the special problems they face or will face. She firmly believes in the importance of educating society to detect the warning signs of physical and psychological violence against women and children in order to help them. Aware that the well-being of children has its source in the family balance, and that women remain the solid pillars of families living in precariousness Souk-Daray Sithimolada is happy to join the team of the Mafubo network which is dedicated to the empowerment of women from disadvantaged backgrounds. Today, painting has become a highlight and its breath of life. Her artistic journey began at the age of 5, when she received her first gift of acrylic paint palette from Father Christmas. Far from her own, she meditates there as an outlet for tranquility which she will transmit to the audience and even to "The Beauty of Life, with a hint of resilience." In her imagination, her subjects will tackle a penchant for femininity, the sensitivity of mothers, women and children, hope, love, tinged with a soft music of nostalgia for landscapes and shapes of countries elsewhere. She will make sure to give her characters a benevolent and serene look, which contradicts herself with her past, of an existence uprooted from her environment by the family breakdown caused by the suffering of the war which raged, Cambodia, the Vietnam, and Laos. Pupil of the French painter Marc Leguay (1936-2001) his teacher of the Lycée, she will preciously preserve this artistic heritage of French Indochina. After having attended the Montreal Art Center, she perfected techniques taught by her mentors, Quebec artists. She particularly admires the works of Bougereau, Waterhouse, Bonnard, Singer-Sargent from the 19th century. In her home country, Ms. Sithimolada began her career as a teacher of English as a second language. In the refugee camp (UNHCR), in the 1980s, she was welcomed by Canada, to settle in Montreal. She is raising her 2 daughters alone. For over fifteen years, she worked in the administrative and project management sector for both private and public companies in Canada, recognized internationally. Her background also includes her experience as a project administrator in the design and management of projects and technical assistance, managed by NGOs, in Southeast Asia and Africa and for more than seven years, she returned on a mission to Southeast Asia, from China to Bangladesh.
